This Saturday’s Aviva Premiership Rugby Final has sold out faster than any previous Premiership Rugby Final, with a crowd of more than 82,000 fans set to watch the contest between Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints.

It marks the fifth consecutive year that the Final has sold out, although this year broke the previous record in terms of time taken, with all profits returning to the 12 Aviva Premiership Rugby clubs.

Dominic Hayes Premiership Rugby’s commercial director, said: ‘The appeal of Aviva Premiership Rugby is at an all-time high and selling out the Final so quickly this year is great news for professional club rugby in England.’

‘Saturday’s game has captured the public’s imagination and the buzz around a Tigers v Saints match on domestic rugby’s biggest stage is huge.’

‘It is testament to the great work of the team involved in marketing the Final and also to our 12 clubs all of whom will be well represented at Twickenham on Saturday.’

The final will be broadcast live on ESPN, 5 Live and talkSPORT with an extended highlights programme on ITV4 at 11pm on Saturday night.

Next season will also see Premiership Rugby debut on the new BT Sport channels.

Meanwhile, ahead of the Final, Aviva and Premiership Rugby teamed up to give rugby fans the chance to have the finalists of this year’s competition see their good luck messages as part of the #LittleThingsMatter campaign – check out the video at Sport Industry TV.
