Energy drinks company Red Bull invested an extra £25m into its Formula One team last year by £25m to help fund its bid to win the 2010 World Championship, according to reports.

??In the year to 31 December 2009, Red Bull’s spending increased by 29.5 per cent to £107 million, in order to fund early development of its racing cars.??

The team’s costs increased by 8.8 per cent to £157m , with its biggest expense believed to be the £57.2m spent on research and development.??

The extra funding looks to have worked as heading into the final straight of the F1 season both drivers Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel remain in the hunt for the drivers championship, whilst the team could also lift the constructors trophy.
