Red Bull is set to announce a new deal with US car manufacturer Ford, according to the BBC.

Ford will reportedly link up with the UK-based Oracle Red Bull Racing team from 2026, part-funding the engine Red Bull are designing for the new regulations to be introduced that year.

The agreement is expected to be officially unveiled at Red Bull’s 2023 season launch in New York on Friday 3rd February.

Red Bull Powertrains, the team’s engine division, is currently working with Japanese car manufacturer Honda for its engine production in a deal which will expire in 2025.

The agreement between Red Bull and Ford was leaked via the Italian press on Thursday 2nd February. Ford sent the information to news agency Ansa, that published the story shortly before removing it from its website.

Red Bull has previously had discussions about a deal with Porsche or an extension with Honda for its 2026 project before Ford entered the frame.

It is thought that Ford has been interested in returning to Formula 1 for several months following the release of Formula 1’s new set of engine regulations for the 2026 season onwards. The new regulations include 100% sustainable fuels as well as an increase in the electrical components required.

That news has already tempted already Audi to enter the sport, with the the German carmaker buying a stake in the Sauber Group with plans to enter F1 in 2026.

Now, Ford look set to follow. The announcement is expected at around 2pm UK time on Friday 3rd February when Red Bull officially launches its 2023 racing car in New York.
