Red Bull Reveals Intern Application Figures

Months after Red Bull offered a unique experience this F1 season, opening the doors of the Red Bull Racing factory to five interns for one month this summer, the team has revealed that nearly 15,000 hopeful applicants passed the first stage for the role.

The search was launched in March of this year, offering internships within the Aerodynamics, Electronics, Marketing, I.T. and Procurement departments of the team. 

No previous experience or extensive technical knowledge was necessary, making this an opportunity open to anyone with a passion for F1. 

Applicants were initially required to go online and complete a specially designed test. 

Over 100,000 took part in the process and 14,000 potential applicants successfully passing the first stage.

Those who passed the online test and made it through to the next stage were then sent a blank sheet of paper and asked to demonstrate that they had what it takes to be a part of the Red Bull team. 

According to the official release, this process produced some outstanding ideas and demonstrated the creativity that Red Bull Racing is looking for. 

Applications were submitted in the form of videos, cartoon strips, technical diagrams and one applicant even submitted a lottery ticket with the promise to give the potential winnings to Red Bull in exchange for one of the final five internships.

The 7,737 who submitted applications were meticulously scaled down to the team’s top 50 who will be invited to Red Bull Racing’s cutting-edge factory in Milton Keynes in June. The shortlisted 50 will have to face questions from the respective Department Heads that will test their knowledge, understanding and passion to the limits.

The final five that are selected will be informed by Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner, before joining the current F1 World Champions to help them defend their title.
