The World Rally Championship is set to announce Red Bull’s media arm as its new partner, ending its promoter problems, according to Autosport.

This year’s WRC season began in January without a promoter after the International Motorsport Federation (FIA) terminated North One Sport’s deal to promote the Championship – claiming the company had breached its contract.

In February Eurosport had been widely tipped to seal a deal combining both promotion and media rights to the WRC only for the FIA to withdraw from negotiations and open a new tender.

Autosport reports that Eurosport was one of three candidates shortlisted by the FIA, along with a South African group and Red Bull Media House. However, the energy drinks brand is believed to have come out on top in a deal that will expand its increasing presence in the global sports market.

Red Bull Media House was launched in 2007 as a means to manage the growing global media activities of Red Bull. Today it operates a Red Bull-themed TV station, online consumer platform, magazine and mobile operator services. It also produces documentaries, movies and music.
