Digital marketing specialists RedTorch has announced a new digital partnership with Connor Sports to maximise the awareness of the brand as the official court provider to the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain, tipping off next week.
Connor Sports creates hardwood, synthetic and outdoor sport surfaces around the world.
The partnership is part of Connor Sports’ ongoing commitment to basketball’s governing body, FIBA, and sees the launch of #CourtsideStories, a social media campaign where both stars and fans share their unique basketball experiences.
‘We are very excited to partner with one of the most respected temporary providers in sport, to deliver the incredible stories that unfold on their courts,’ said Jonny Murch, managing director, RedTorch.
‘As basketball’s rebranded flagship tournament tips-off later this month, we’ll be working with Connor Sports to engage basketball fans, the industry, and other FIBA partners with #CourtsideStories to help showcase this great event.’
Ron Cerny, CEO, Connor Sports added: ‘Effectively promoting our involvement in the World Cup to an international audience, whilst engaging the fans, has never been more important than it is today, and we believe RedTorch are perfectly positioned to assist us in this area.’
FIBA’s World Cup runs from 30th August to 14th September and features 24 teams. According to RedTorch, the competition ‘is expected to attract a global TV audience of 800 million viewers across 171 countries’.
The tournament winner will secure the Naismith Trophy – named after the inventor of basketball, Dr James Naismith – and also automatically qualifies for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janiero.
