The Renault F1 team has attracted a new sponsor ahead of the new season after OMP Racing signed a new three-year technical partnership with the team.

The Italian motorsport clothing and equipment supplier will supply the Renault team with safety equipment including fire-proof race suits and clothing for the mechanics, along with boots, gloves and underwear.

As part of the deal, new ultra-light seatbelts will also be provided to the F1 outfit.

Paolo Delprato, vice president of OMP, said ‘It’s also an important milestone because the company has become a supplier of a safety product that has been developed and created specifically for Formula One.’

The news comes as a major boost to the Renault F1 team after primary sponsor ING announced that it was ending its association last season.
