Leeds-based sports marketing agency Ptarmigan has picked up the contract to
raise the profile of rugby league’s Challenge Cup competition amongst potential
sponsors.
Ptarmigan Sports Marketing has been appointed by the sport’s governing body
the Rugby Football League with a view to finding a title sponsor for the
Challenge Cup ahead of the new season.
Utilities brand Powergen pulled its title sponsorship of the competition at
the end of last season following its buyout by E.ON.
The Challenge Cup returns to the new Wembley Stadium for this year’s final on
25 August, a game that will be covered live by the BBC.
Ptarmigan will work with RFL commercial director Paul Kimberley to implement
the campaign over a six month period.
Kimberley stated: ‘The appointment of Ptarmigan is a step forward in putting
rugby league’s oldest and most prestigious competition in the spotlight ahead of
securing the most suitable sponsor.’
