The Rugby Football Union has opened up a tender process inviting agencies to bid
for its corporate hospitality licence.
The move is part of the governing body’s bid to improve the corporate
hospitality that takes place at international and other big matches at
Twickenham Stadium and to minimise the number of Twickenham tickets reaching the
black market.
The present RFU licenses granted to: Twickenham Experience Limited, Mike
Burton Group, Sportingclass and Events International are due to run out at the
end of the 2007/08 season and, with the current scheme having proved successful,
the RFU is keen to repeat the process.
In order to receive an official tender document, companies wishing to be
considered for official status should submit a letter of interest to the RFU,
together with a non-refundable cheque for £500 to cover administration costs, by
25th June 2007.
The new five year licenses will run from the start of the 2008/09 season.
The closing date for applications is 10th August 2007, after which applicants
may be invited to an interview to discuss their tender. The RFU is expected to
announce its new official hospitality licensees in September 2007.
