Rocket Sports Management, a sports management agency set up in 2012 by Sir Elton John and Luke Lloyd-Davies has appointed Ben Lampkin as its managing director following new investors.
Lampkin joins from London Marathon Events where he was head of sponsorship, overseeing brand partnerships for their portfolio of mass participation events that includes the Virgin Money London Marathon and Prudential RideLondon.
The news comes as Rocket Sports Management, part of the Rocket Entertainment Group, welcomes five new shareholders amid ambitious expansion plans ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Luke Lloyd-Davies, COO of Rocket Entertainment Group commented on the appointment: “We are delighted to welcome Ben to the Rocket Sports family at a pivotal point in the company’s history. With this fresh leadership and the wealth of experience our new shareholders bring, we shall continue to strengthen our talent management business while also building on the work we do with rights holders, governing bodies and brands.”
Lampkin, who also spent six years in the commercial team at Goodwood, commented: “As a business, Rocket Sports has exceptional foundations and support from across the Elton John Group of businesses. This, combined with the entrepreneurial spirit of all our shareholders attracted me to the role. Our ambition is to build on the work we do with both brands and rights holders centred around iconic moments in sport, while continuing to work closely with all our athletes on their individual career goals”.
