Rooney Recruited For Samsung’s Galaxy 11
Samsung Electronics has announced its latest signing to its Galaxy 11, after confirming Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney has joined the all star squad who will attempt to save Earth from alien domination in a “winner takes all” match on a virtual football pitch as part of a new campaign.
Rooney joins the Galaxy 11 line-up that already includes current FIFA Ballon d’Or holder Lionel Messi as captain, alongside Real Madrid and Spain shot stopper Iker Casillas, Bayern Munich and Germany star Mario Götze, Italy and AC Milan striker El Shaarawy, Chelsea’s Brazilian midfielder Oscar, Nigerian international Victor Moses, Shanghai East Asia and China Midfielder Wu Lei, Bolton Wanderers and South Korea Midfielder Lee Chung-Yong and Monaco goal scorer Radamel Falcao, with the final players set to be announced over the coming days.
Messi’s “selection” was revealed in a TV advertisement last month.
Rooney’s selection for the Galaxy 11 line up was launched in a short teaser video, providing fans a glimpse of how he was chosen to join the team. The video, “Rooney joins #GALAXY11,” shows the Manchester United star sparring in a boxing ring in preparation for the big game.
Wayne Rooney commented on his Galaxy 11 selection: ‘It’s a great honour to be selected for the team alongside some of the world’s greatest football players. Hopefully I’ll be able to bring my qualities and English spirit to the team and 2014 is going to be a huge year for me with club, country and now the Galaxy 11, so keep watching.’
Football legend Franz Beckenbauer, a World Cup winner as both player and manager for Germany, will lead the Galaxy 11 team in their quest to conquer the mysterious alien invasion. In December fans from around the world will be able to watch and follow the dramatic journey of the entire Galaxy 11 team as they begin training for Earth’s ultimate showdown.
Other football superstars will be named to the Galaxy 11 roster across Samsung Mobile social channels and the campaign microsite, www.theGALAXY11.com.
