Royal Parks Half Marathon presented by Royal Bank of Canada has announced its partnership with wearables brand Fitbit.

Fitbit will become the official wearable technology partner at this year’s race, which takes place in London on Sunday 8th October.

As part of the partnership, Fitbit ambassador and personal trainer, James Stirling will lead the pre-race warm-up. Fitbit will also be taking a stand in the event village and giving participants and supporters the chance to get their hands on a free Fitbit device every half an hour, with giveaways running throughout the day. Discounted Fitbit devices will also be available to purchase at the Fitbit stand.

Fitbit and Royal Parks Half, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, has also launched the Virtual Half Marathon Challenge which kicked off on 11th September. The challenge, which runs throughout September up until race day, rewards people for staying active with weekly prize draws. Every time participants log 13 miles through the Fitbit app they will automatically be entered into a prize draw and could stand to win Fitbit devices, three month PureGym membership, adidas and Lululemon gift vouchers, and much more.

Eleanor Viita, corporate partnerships manager of The Royal Parks, said: “We are absolutely delighted to partner with Fitbit. They are one of the most respected wearable technology companies in the world, so having them support our runners is fantastic.”

Lucy Sheehan, Fitbit UK marketing director said: “We’re delighted to be an official Royal Parks Half Marathon partner in its 10th anniversary year. Our mission it to inspire people to live a healthier, active life which is why we’ve designed products to help people reach their fitness goals. Whether you run or jog the Royal Parks Half Marathon, our trackers will help optimise performance, making it the perfect race day companion.”

The 13.1-mile route takes runners through four of London’s eight Royal Parks, namely Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens.
