Rugby OTT platform RugbyPass has launched a new subscription-based platform, called The XV.
The Dublin-headquartered global media outlet was sold to Sky New Zealand in August 2019, and has now launched a new ad-free platform to include news, features and player interviews.
“Sky Sports NZ acquired RugbyPass because they believed in our long-term vision for the development of the game, and as part of that ambitious strategy comes the unveiling of our new subscription product, The XV,” said Neil Martin, CEO, RugbyPass.
“Almost 25 years to the day from the advent of professionalism, rugby is in a massive state of transition so the timing to launch The XV is ideal. At its core will be high-quality, premium journalism.”
“Our intellectual property comes from journalists who know their patch intimately. We have writers on the ground, from all over the world, following the biggest stories and getting access with the greatest players. The insight we have will shine through in our journalism.
“We have verticals in the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand and a growing following in the US and the Far-East.”
According to RugbyPass, a team of 20 journalists will produce content for the platform, which will be priced at £3.99 per month in the UK, or £24.99 annually.
