The 2014 Ryder Cup, taking place in Gleneagles, Scotland, has secured a new sponsorship deal with Kitbag that will see the online sports retailer become the official retail partner of the golf competition.
Kitbag will operate an on-site merchandise pavilion at the Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland, which will be the venue for the 40th edition of the golf match between the best players from Europe and the US in 2014.
The company – which is already the official online shop of both the 2014 Ryder Cup and the 2018 edition in France – will also run an online service for Ryder Cup partners and guests to purchase corporate and hospitality merchandise ahead of the competition.
Richard Hills, the European Tour Ryder Cup director, said: ‘We are naturally delighted to welcome a company of Kitbag’s stature as our official retail partner for the 2014 Ryder Cup.’
‘As the operators of our online shop their levels of professionalism are already well known to us, and so we had no hesitation in strengthening our association with them.’
Andy Anson, the Kitbag chief executive, added: ‘As we value our existing agreement with Ryder Cup Europe very highly, it was a very exciting progression to further our involvement by becoming the official retail partner for 2014. The Ryder Cup is sport at its finest, and we are genuinely thrilled to play our part in it at Gleneagles.’
