Saatchi & Saatchi London has been appointed by The National Basketball Association (NBA) as an advertising partner to help drive its marketing efforts forward as it seeks to grow the sport’s European audience.

The account was awarded after a competitive pitch process handled directly by the client.

Following the win, Saatchi & Saatchi will create a digital campaign for the brand, which is set to go live in October.

The NBA has established an international presence with games available in 215 countries and territories. It has also aimed to grow globally with regular-season games being played in Europe.

NBA regular-season games were played in London from 2011 until 2019 and the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons are set to meet at the 20,300-capacity Accor Arena in Paris in January 2023 as the NBA lands in France for the second time, following the first NBA Paris Game between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Charlotte Hornets in January 2020.

Saatchi & Saatchi CEO Chris Kay said, “We couldn’t be more excited at adding the NBA to our client roster, and we are pretty energised at being given the chance to help deepen the love for one of Europe’s fastest-growing sports.”

Saatchi & Saatchi has had a strong year in terms of growth, recently securing deals with clients that include BT Sport, Siemens, Marriott, and Churchill.
