Supermarket giant Sainsbury’s has become an official supplier to this year’s UK School Games, to be held in Wales.
The new deal effectively extends the brand’s existing relationship with the Youth Sport Trust which oversees the delivery of the UK School Games.
The deal, which has been negotiated by the Youth Sport Trust, is to supply the mineral water for all the competitors. Sports marketing agency, Fast Track, has also secured support for the UK School Games from First Group and the NASUWT.
The agency is still in the process of searching for a presenting partner for the UK School Games.
The UK School Games is a multi-sport event designed to replicate the feel of Olympic, Commonwealth and Paralympics Games with an opening and closing ceremony plus an athlete’s village.
This year will be the fourth time the Games have been held, with Wales hosting this year’s event. Around 1,600 elite school aged athletes will compete in 10 sports from the 3rd – 6th September.
Alongside the new sport of track cycling, competition will take place in hockey, badminton, judo, volleyball, athletics, fencing, gymnastics, swimming and table tennis, with disability events in athletics, swimming and table tennis also included.
