Samsung has extended its title sponsorship of the IAAF Diamond League for the upcoming 2012 season.

The
brand had the option of an extension on its existing two-year deal it
agreed with the IAAF for the inaugural season of the athletics series in
2010, and have now taken up that option.

Samsung holds local
sponsorship rights to the meetings in Stockholm, Brussels, Lausanne,
Monaco and Doha, and will retain a range of branding and activation
rights.

The series will also continue to be known as the Samsung Diamond League.

IAAF
president Lamine Diack said: ‘This is excellent news for the IAAF, the
Diamond League meetings and of course Samsung. For the IAAF’s top
invitational series of meetings to continue with a title sponsor such as
Samsung, a world leader in consumer electronics, among other product
categories, with a history of over 70 years of excellence, reconfirms
the attractive benefit of sponsoring athletics.’

The first of the 14 Samsung Diamond League meetings in 2012 will take place at the Hamad Bin Suhaim Stadium in Doha on 11th May.
