Premier League club Chelsea is reportedly close to agreeing an extension to its multi-million pound shirt sponsorship deal with Samsung.

Samsung is currently in the middle of a five-year, £50m sponsorship deal with Chelsea, signed in April 2005 – the most lucrative such deal in the English top flight.

The new deal, which is believed to include continued shirt sponsorship, as well as other brand promotion opportunities, such as sponsorship within Stamford Bridge, branding on Chelsea’s official website and the availability of Samsung’s products in the Chelsea shop, will also give Samsung the opportunity to use Chelsea players for future advertising.

The relationship between the South Korean electronics firm and Chelsea has been highly successful for Samsung with a proven increase in UK sales as a result of the tie-up.
