Sky has partnered with Samsung as sponsors of Sky Sports’ England QBE International updates on Twitter, providing near-live video clips of match action.
The digital content-led campaign will be live during Sky Sports’ coverage of England’s four QBE Internationals from Saturday 8th November, kicking off with the home nation’s clash with world champions New Zealand.
Tweets from @SkySportsRugby promoting Sky Sports’ live match coverage will contain near-live video clips of the match presented by @SamsungMobileUK and the Galaxy Note 4, which will also be available alongside other content on a bespoke Samsung rugby hub on skysports.com.
Twitter Amplify will also be used to extend the reach of the campaign by promoting the tweets to new audiences.
Samsung’s sponsorship of the @SkySportsRugby QBE International Twitter updates was brokered by Sky Media, in conjunction with Twitter. Sky and Samsung are also partners of England Rugby and The RFU.
The RFU and Sky Sports recently extended their partnership into its third decade with a further five year broadcast contract and the introduction of Sky Sports as a top level RFU partner.
Meanwhile, the RFU’s new three-year partnership with electronics provider Samsung as the Official Consumer Electronics & Smartphone Partner and Official Home Technology Partner to the RFU and England Rugby Team was announced in October.
Russell Taylor, Vice President, Corporate Marketing at Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland, said: ‘We are thrilled that our partnership with the RFU can be taken to the next level in a UK first for Sky with Twitter. Samsung has long been committed to sport and we take pride in bringing fans closer to their passions and creating unforgettable experiences through technology. Fans will have access as the game unfolds, be that at Twickenham Stadium, on a tablet while watching the match at home, or anywhere on their mobile device.’
David Fisher, Head of Futures at Sky Media, added: ‘It’s great to be able to offer this exciting new digital opportunity to Samsung, and we’re delighted they are on board. We’re always looking to break ground with new ways to engage our clients and Sky Sports fans, and England’s Internationals are the highlight of the autumn rugby calendar as part of Sky’s biggest-ever month of international rugby. We’ll also use Twitter Amplify will help us boost the reach of this innovative campaign even further.’
