Setanta Sports is running a national marketing campaign to promote Ricky
Hatton’s fight against Mexico’s Jose Luis Castillo this weekend – the first of
the boxer’s fights that the broadcaster has screened.
Setanta is running a national and regional media campaign, handled by
planning and buying agency BLM Media, with the IBO World Welterweight title
fight being promoted in national newspapers, magazines, radio and online.
Creative for the campaign has been done by Big Al’s Creative Emporium and
carries the strapline “Pay for the punches get the kicks for free”.
Hatton fans in his Manchester hometown are being encouraged to send personal
messages of support to him in Las Vegas, which potentially will be broadcast on
TV and appear in print.
Promotional teams will also be in Manchester to raise awareness of the fight
and further fan interaction is being encouraged with a take-over of the digital
screen in the city centre’s Piccadilly Gardens.
Setanta Sports won the broadcasting rights to Hatton’s boxing matches last
month, beating off competition from ITV and Sky.
