A report commissioned by The Scottish Football League has found the structure of
the second-tier divisions to be outdated.
The report by accountancy firm Pannell Kerr-Foster stated that the SFL, which
runs Scotland’s First, Second and Third Divisions, was ‘an organisation not
suited to a modern-day business environment’ and that it lacked a ‘commercial
engine’.
The findings could prompt a widespread restructure of the SFL which was found
to be three times more expensive to run as the equivalent leagues in England.
The SFL is currently without a title sponsor for the league or its knock-out
competition, the Challenge Cup.
The First Division clubs will meet on Thursday where the report’s findings
will be discussed.
