The eSkootr Championship (eSC) has confirmed that Olympic Gold Medallist and 2x Heavyweight Champion of the World, Anthony Joshua OBE, will enter a team for the sport’s inaugural season.
Joshua’s entry will be called 258 RACING, and will be run by the boxing star’s elite athlete management company, 258 MGT. As one of ten teams in the championship, it will run three riders from the eSC Rider Pool.
Among the riders selected to compete in the series are multiple World Champion and former Team GB speed skater, Elise Christie, BMX World Championship bronze medallist, Tre Whyte, and Olympic Games Snowboard bronze medallist, Billy Morgan. The eSkootr Championships 2022 will launch at Printworks London on 13th May 2022.
Walsall Football Club has confirmed that Poundland will be its new principal partner for the next three years in the largest commercial partnership in the League Two club’s history.
The retailer, which has a customer support centre based in Walsall, will have the naming rights of the stadium which will be known as the Poundland Bescot Stadium and will have its branding adorned across the top of the two-tier stand and in various locations around the stadium bowl.
Walsall Chairman, Leigh Pomlett, said, “I am delighted that Poundland will be our principal sponsors. A company with their head office in Walsall sponsoring the town’s football club seems so fitting. The relationship has become closer and closer over time but this takes it to a new level. I am also pleased that Poundland will be a very active and supportive sponsor.”
La-Z-Boy has become the official furniture partner of the NFL London Games. The USA’s National Football League will stage three of its 2022 season games in the capital during October.
The global sofa brand has penned a three-year deal which will see it provide ‘the best seats in the house’ for the two London games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and become the key sponsor of the Jason & Osi Podcast in which the two former NFL players and BBC pundits chat about the game.
England Squash has launched Squash Stars, a nationwide junior squash participation initiative to attract thousands of girls and boys to the game.
The six-week programme, delivered by participating clubs and venues from June, will introduce children aged 5-11 to the fun game of squash. Children will be taught the fundamental skills to play squash, and develop hand-eye coordination, racket work, movement and match play through action-packed fun games and drills delivered by specially trained leaders.
W Series, the international single-seater motor racing championship for women, has announced its broadcast talent team for the 2022 season.
David Coulthard, Ted Kravitz, and Lee McKenzie – who have all presented W Series since the inaugural season in 2019 – will be joined by Alex Jacques, Billy Monger, Amy Reynolds, and Naomi Schiff, all of whom joined W Series’ broadcast talent team in 2021 when W Series began its partnership with Formula 1. The news follows on from the W Series announcing a multi-year broadcast partnership with Sky Sports on Monday (25th April).

Double will be leaving to launch a new communications and PR consultancy, Double Communications Ltd. The business will focus on working with businesses, big and small, in the sports industry.
