Preliminary designs have been drawn up for a new North Stand at Villa Park, the home of Premier League club Aston Villa FC, which would increase the stadium’s capacity from 42,800 to 50,000.

Villa’s announcement coincided with the release of its financial results for the year ended 31st May 2021, with the club reducing its losses before tax from £99.5m to £37.3m year-on-year.


NEO Studios will merge with fellow production company Whistle Studios to create a combined entity that will be housed under international broadcaster Eleven.

As part of the merger, the expanded NEO Studios will create premium sports and entertainment programming for television and streaming platforms.


Extreme E, the electric off-road racing series, has signed an agreement with TV3 Group, a leading media group in the Baltics.

TV3 Sport channels will air all five X Prix events live and in full this year, as well as race highlights, magazine programming, previews and review shows in Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.


Hytro has extended a partnership with St Helens to continue serving as the Super League club’s blood flow restriction training partner. 

The deal includes advertising and usage rights at games and via the club’s online platforms, as well as access to players and training staff for Hytro marketing content.


The Integrity Services division of sports data and technology provider Sportradar detected a record number of 903 suspicious matches last year, according to the findings of its new report, ‘Betting Corruption and Match-fixing in 2021’.

The total represented the highest number of suspicious matches in the 17-year history of Sportradar Integrity Services, which estimated that profits of approximately €165m (£137m equivalent) were generated through match-fixing last year.


Joymo has sealed an exclusive live-streaming, multi-year deal with mixed martial arts promoter Caged Steel.

The first live pay-per-view event that will be available through Joymo’s over-the-top platform will be Caged Steel 28 on 19th March.


Surrey County Cricket has appointed SECUTIX as the club’s new ticketing technology partner.

The club will use a suite of SECUTIX solutions, including its S-360 ticketing platform, its TIXNGO mobile ticketing application and its in-built business intelligence system.
