Events infrastructure specialists, GL events UK, has been appointed as the Official Overlay Supporter for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

GL events will offer planning, design and delivery of a wide-ranging number of temporary infrastructure services, as part of the Turnkey Overlay delivery contract, which includes temporary structures and marquees, temporary grandstand seating, cabins, scaffolding, rigging, fencing, containment, trackway, lighting, groundworks as well as venue specific special projects.

As part of their delivery, GL events UK is also rolling out its most extensive social value programme yet, working alongside key Birmingham charities and CIC’s such as Jericho Foundation and Change Kitchen.

The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will see around 4,500 athletes from 72 nations and territories compete in 19 sports and eight para-sports across 14 competition venues from 28 July until 8 August 2022.


Twenty3 has announced Premier League club Burnley as their latest Analytics Toolbox customer.

The club will enjoy access to the Analytics Toolbox’s full range of features including the recently released Event Lab and Power Reports. This will help Burnley’s analysts save time in their pre- and post-match workflows.

The Twenty3 Product team are working closely with Burnley to ensure Toolbox access is entirely customised to their preferences in order to maximise efficiency and automate processes during the 2021/22 season.


FreeSports, the UK free-to-air channel, has acquired a package of rights to basketball’s EuroLeague during the 2021-22 season.

The agreement allows the Premier Media-owned broadcaster to show one regular-season game per match week plus all playoff and Final Four games, starting with Real Madrid’s trip to reigning champions Anadolu Efes on 30 September.

FreeSports will show matches throughout 2021-22 season, which sees a significant rule change. For the first time, coaches will be able to challenge an official’s decision-per-game through an instant replay system. 


Made By Sport has announced that they are partnering with the BBC for ‘Unsung Hero’ Award at the 2021 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

Previous winners include Sergeant Matt Ratana who in 2020 was awarded posthumously for bringing the community together to rebuild East Grinstead Rugby Club. In 2019, Kieren Thompson was recognised for his outstanding work in supporting young people at risk from gangs and violence in Nottingham
