Shorts: British Cycling, Sportradar, Extreme E

British Cycling has renewed its partnership with power transmission business Renold.

The three-year deal will see Renold continue to provide bespoke bike chains for the Great Britain Cycling Team.

This long-standing partnership has seen Renold and Bristol University share their expertise to deliver bespoke handmade chains for the Great Britian Cycling Team’s track cyclists since 2011.  

Stephen Park CBE, Performance Director for the Great Britain Cycling Team, said, “We’re delighted to renew our partnership with Renold until 2027. Our mission is to be the best sports team in the world and having such a high-quality partner in Renold, who have been providing us with the best bike chains since 2011, supports us greatly towards that goal. We look forward to seeing what further innovations the next three years of our partnership will bring.” 


Sports data and technology company Sportradar has announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2024.

The results showed revenue for the current quarter was €265.9m (£210m), up 28% year-over-year with broad-based strength across the product portfolio.

The current quarter generated a loss of €0.6m (£0.47m) compared to a profit of €6.8m (£5.3m) for the same quarter last year.

Carsten Koerl, Chief Executive Officer of Sportradar, said, “Fiscal 2024 is off to a great start, building on the strong momentum and progress we made last year. This quarter, we saw broad-based strength across our product portfolio including strong client adoption of our ATP and NBA product offerings. In light of our strong business fundamentals, we are raising our full year outlook and are commencing purchases under our share repurchase program.

I would also like to welcome to the leadership team Craig Felenstein as our Chief Financial Officer and Behshad Behzadi as our Chief Technology Officer and Chief AI Officer.”

Extreme E has appointed creative communications agency W Communications as its new official communications agency.

As part of its remit, W will ‘work closely with Extreme E’s in-house teams to support the championship’s ongoing communications strategy and to grow the profile of the sport’, which is currently in its fourth season.
