The Duchess of Cambridge and over 150 local school children led the welcome home party in congratulating British US Open champions Emma Raducanu, Joe Salisbury, Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett on their achievements.

The Duchess of Cambridge and all four British stars were joined on the court by LTA Youth players and coaches for a host of tennis activities, aimed at inspiring the next generation of players aged 4-18.

LTA Youth aims to help more children enjoy the benefits of playing and staying in tennis, whatever their age, gender, ability, disability, or background. Furthermore, LTA Youth helps children develop a whole range of physical and neurological abilities including balance, coordination, and fine motor skills, with activities involving decision-making and strengthening hand-eye coordination.

The special ‘Homecoming’ event was broadcast on 24 September 2021.

The third day of the Bob Willis Trophy final will be staged in support of Alzheimer’s Society’s Sport United Against Dementia (SUAD) campaign at Lord’s.

The campaign, which has already been backed by former England captains Alec Stewart OBE, Andrew Flintoff MBE and former Australia leg-spinner Shane Warne, will also fund research to further understanding of the connections between sport and dementia and help identify the very earliest signs of dementia and what might increase a persons’ risk.

By working in partnership with clubs and governing bodies across multiple sports, including cricket, the campaign will help create a network of dementia friendly facilities and raise vital funds for Alzheimer’s Society’s urgently needed support services and increase awareness of what support is available.
