EA SPORTS has announced that they are exploring the idea of renaming their football games just two weeks after the release of FIFA 22.

A statement by the Group General Manager, Cam Weber, confirmed that EA will be reviewing their naming rights agreement with FIFA, which is separate from all their other official partnerships and licenses across the football world.

He added “The future of football is very big and very bright. Our priority is to ensure we have every opportunity to continue delivering the world’s greatest interactive football experiences.”


SailGP’s road to creating a more inclusive championship will reach another milestone at the Spain Sail Grand Prix taking place in Cádiz-Andalusia on 9-10 October 2021.

The sixth event of the season will now include six athletes onboard all F50s for racing – a first for the global league – resulting in the league’s Women’s Pathway Program athletes racing onboard for the first time in SailGP history.

Among the athletes will be, Great Britain’s SailGP Team athlete and the world’s most successful female Olympic sailor, Hannah Mills.


Burnley Football Club has strengthened its off-field management and operations team with key appointments in four newly created positions.

The new roles are headlined by the appointment of Russell Ball as the club’s Head of Matchday Operations, reporting to Executive Chairman Alan Pace and overseeing the club’s interaction with supporters, commercial partners, and the local community at Turf Moor.

Additional appointments include Harriet Harbidge as Burnley FC’s first-ever Fan Experience Manager, Lola Ogunbote as its first Business Lead, overseeing all aspects of Burnley FC Women and, Gurpri Bains as its Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Lead, further strengthening Burnley’s FC’s One Club for All ethos.


Everton’s retail partner, Fanatics, has announced the opening of their first ever retail store in Northern Ireland.

The store, which is position in Belfast’s shopping district on Castle Lane, will be officially open from Thursday October 7th and will feature a wide range of Blues merchandise.

Throughout 2021, Fanatics has served Everton fans through its online store – Everton Direct worldwide – and the new Belfast store is also a part of their commitment to reach more overseas Everton fans.   


Six Premier League and Championship clubs have applied to take part in a safe standing trial which is due to start on 1 January.

The pilot scheme, organised by the Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA), will run until the end of the season. It will allow clubs whose application is successful to offer a licensed safe standing area.

Standing in English football’s top two divisions was outlawed following recommendations made in the Taylor Report into the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, which resulted in the death of 97 Liverpool fans.
