More than 20,000 people have signed a petition calling for Everton Football Club to abandon its choice of a betting firm as its new main sponsor.
Earlier this month, the Blues confirmed that it had agreed a club-record deal with Stake.com to replace Cazoo on the front of its shirts from the 2022/23 campaign onwards. The multi-year partnership is set to commence on 1st July and will also see the company’s branding appear on screens and media backdrops at both the club’s stadium, Goodison Park, and training ground, Finch Farm.
This follows recent reports that the government is set to U-turn on a proposed ban of betting sponsorships within the Premier League in response to the rise in gambling addictions in the UK.
UK-based digital bank Starling Bank has launched the first ever fantasy football game for the UEFA Women’s EUROs ahead of the official tournament kick off on Wednesday 6th July.
The game has been developed by the tournament’s national banking partner to broaden representation for women’s football, which has limited Fantasy Football games and has never had one for the UEFA Women’s EUROs. All major Men’s football tournaments have Fantasy counterparts, and more than eight million people play the Men’s Fantasy Premier League1.
Former England player and Starling Bank ambassador Rachel Yankey said, “I’m so excited to build my first Fantasy team that features England Lionesses. When I was growing up there was nothing like this. I hope that fans both young and old can really enjoy building their teams and embrace the journey that Women’s football has been on to get to where it is today.“

Ahead of the Women’s EURO 2022 German football media company has enlisted Lionesses Fran Kirby and Georgia Stanway as the first official OneFootball ambassadors. The pair, alongside several other European superstars, make up its inaugural roster of ‘female heroes of the game’, who will front exclusive content in-app, across OneFootball’s website and social channels, and at in-person events in a new campaign to support the women’s game. The goal is to bring women’s football to bigger, more diverse audiences.
As part of the campaign, OneFootball will be lending its reach and scale to the grassroots game through an exclusive partnership with Girls United, the not-for-profit organisation geared towards empowering girls in local communities through football.
