McLaren Group has strongly denied a news report which stated it has been subject of a takeover by Audi.

On Monday, Autocar reported Audi had purchased the McLaren Group and would take full control over the company’s road car and racing operations, including the McLaren F1 team.

McLaren Group released a statement shortly after the report saying: “McLaren Group is aware of a news media report stating it has been sold to Audi. This is wholly inaccurate, and McLaren is seeking to have the story removed”


The EFL has confirmed that Derby County Football Club has received a nine-point sporting sanction with a further three points suspended after admitting to breaches of the League’s Profitability and Sustainability (P&S) rules. 

This matter has been determined under the terms of an ‘Agreed Decision’ reached between the League and the club and was formally ratified by an Independent Disciplinary Commission Chair as per the requirements of EFL regulations.

The new nine-point penalty has been applied immediately, resulting in the Club having been deducted a total of 21 points from this season’s 2021/22 Championship table. 


WHOOP, the human performance company, has announced the establishment of its inaugural Women’s Performance Collective (WPC), an initiative that demonstrates the company’s commitment to pursuing research, thought leadership and product development initiatives for women.

WHOOP and the WPC will work to continue to address the research and education gap within women’s performance, as currently only 3% of sport science research is focused exclusively on women.

The WPC is a diverse coalition of academic experts and top athletes from around the globe, including Dr Hazel Wallace, the founder of The Food Medic, an NHS medical doctor, registered nutritionist and best-selling author. 


The EFL schedule for the 2022/23 season has been confirmed, with the Sky Bet Championship, League One and League Two set to start on the weekend of Saturday 30 July 2022. This has been adjusted to accommodate the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Match round 16 in the Championship, set to take place on Saturday 12 November, will be the final round of fixtures played ahead of the call-up period for the tournament, which begins on Monday 14 November. The Championship will resume on 10 December 2022 following the culmination of the World Cup Group Stages, whilst League One and League Two fixtures will continue as normal. The existing international calls postponement criteria will be applied throughout, where necessary.

The final day of the 2022/23 season in the Championship, League One and League Two will be across the weekend of Saturday 6 May 2023, with the Sky Bet EFL Play-Off Finals scheduled for the 27-29 May 2023.


British Cycling has confirmed that Jan van Eijden will leave his role as a Great Britain Cycling Team coach to take up a role with the German Cycling Federation.

Van Eijden, a two-time world champion with Germany, joined British Cycling in 2006 and has worked with some of British Cycling’s most successful riders including Sir Chris Hoy, Vicky Pendleton, Becky James and Jason Kenny.

Van Eijden said: “I have had an amazing time at British Cycling, and I want to thank riders, colleagues and my friends for making my time at British Cycling unforgettable”.
