Major League Baseball (MLB) has announced the launch of a Home Run Derby X (HRDX), a new baseball format that will debut in London.

The London event will take place at Crystal Palace Park on 9th July and form part of a global tour designed to introduce new fans to the game. Further HRDX locations will include Seoul and Mexico City later in 2022.

The London HRDX event will see UK content creators and influencers teamed up with former MLB All-Stars and World Series champions, including Jonny Gomes, Adrián González, Geo Soto, and Nick Swisher, representing MLB teams Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees.


Tottenham Hotspur is planning to visit Israel as part of its pre-season preparations, The Athletic reports. Spurs confirmed in February that it would also be touring South Korea as part of the build-up to the 2022-23 season.

The trip is likely to be just a short stay to play a game or several days to compete and train. This will be Spurs’ first international pre-season tour since 2019.


GB Taekwondo has signed Spanish taekwondo equipment company Daedo to a three-year sponsorship deal, to help manage the British national team in the lead-up to the next Olympic and Paralympic Games, and World and European Championships.

Based in Barcelona, Daedo is a leading taekwondo Protector Scoring System (PSS) provider and has acted as a PSS supplier for the last three Summer Olympics – between London 2012 and Tokyo 2020. 


The Coaches’ Voice, the football coaching platform co-founded by David Sciama and former Manchester United and Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon, has announced the acquisition of sport software provider Sport Session Planner.

“Sport Session Planner is widely regarded as the premier digital coaching system worldwide and we are delighted to be acquiring this business and integrating a product that perfectly complements the existing Coaches’ Voice offer,” said David Sciama. “We see a perfect opportunity to consolidate the two existing coaching communities and provide an unmatched proposition for coaches at all levels of the game.”


Manchester United footballer Phil Jones has teamed up with Stockholm-based media platform Antourage to launch a new metaverse membership project, Red Lion Sports Club (RLSC).

RLSC describes itself as ‘a unique venue in the metaverse where athletes and fans can hang-out together, watch content, play games, support great causes, enter competitions to win prizes.’


British Cycling has announced that the 2022 British National Road Championships will take place in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.

The championships will begin with the time-trials, starting and finishing at Crichton Estate in Dumfries, on 23rd June.
