Portsmouth-based events and management company MODUS has announced the upcoming launch of the MODUS Super Series, a new darts competition that will make its debut on Saturday 3rd September.

The MODUS Super Series is a successor to the Online Darts Live League, which began as a play-at-home darts tournament during the pandemic and grew into a made-for-TV, studio-based competition that ran for two years.

The new series is open to non-Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) tour card holders and will feature top international players including Fallon Sherrock, Martin Adams and Robert Thornton, and will be broadcast on Sporty Stuff TV.

According to a statement, the new series will be ‘hosted at a top-spec, purpose-built location in Portsmouth’ and will feature over 30 hours of matches broadcasted live per week with players competing for a share of a prize pool in excess of £1m.

“Darts is a sport with global appeal and a hugely passionate following,” said Billy Lovell of MODUS Events and Management. “The addition of the MODUS Super Series to the calendar guarantees must-watch action as a far larger number of players will now feature regularly at the top level. They will also gain crucial experience in front of a TV and live audience, potentially earning prize money that could bridge the gap to going full-time pro.”

London-based sport and entertainment consultancy Strive Sponsorship has announced the brokering of a new relationship between sports betting app SBK and British writer and broadcaster Nat Coombs.

The partnership will see SBK and Nat Coombs team up to produce two new NFL podcasts – SBK Edge Rush and SBK Edge Rush Extra – plus a weekly column that will appear on the SBK Betting Zone website.

Adam Baylis, Head of Customer Marketing at SBK, said, “Strive has provided terrific support to us, over many years, in helping us pursue our mission of SBK becoming a leading sports information source. Their content team delivers great work for us daily, and their sponsorships expertise was key in building this mutually beneficial partnership that will further bolster our NFL content.

We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Nat, who brings a wealth of NFL expertise and an audience that understands what we’re about. This will be some of the best NFL content out there, and I can’t wait to release the first podcasts and columns.”
