London Marathon Events, the organisers of RideLondon, has confirmed that the cycling festival will return on 29 May 2022 after a two year hiatus due to Covid-19 restrictions. 

Following discussions with potential event partners, it was confirmed that RideLondon will be partnering with Essex County Council from 2022. The county will be the joint host of a new 100-mile challenge ride, the RideLondon-Essex 100, which will start in the capital, go out to Essex and finish in central London. 

RideLondon 2022 will also feature family-oriented rides on traffic-free roads in the heart of London. The full format of the event and routes across London and Essex will be announced in due course.


Sported, the charity that supports the largest network of grassroots sports groups in the UK, has announced that Rory Best, former captain of the Ireland national rugby union team, is officially joining the organisation as an ambassador.

Best, who is already a strong advocate for plays for grassroot sports communities back home in his native Northern Ireland, has been very vocal about his support for the work Sported is rolling out to young people.

Best joins Tottenham Hotspur defender, Eric Dier, who became a Sported ambassador at the end of last year.


The Boat Race Company Ltd has announced that the BBC will continue to broadcast The Boat Race in a new four-year partnership that will run between 2022 – 2025.

2022 will see the 76th women’s and the 167th men’s Boat Race return to its iconic Championship Course that stretches over 4.25 miles of tidal Thames in west London between Putney and Mortlake.

The world-famous sporting event between the UK’s two historic universities, Oxford and Cambridge, spans 192 years of rivalry and the race has become synonymous with British tradition, educational, and sporting excellence. The race is attended by over 250,000 spectators and watched on live television by millions in the UK and worldwide.


The Mayor of London is teaming up with London-based esports organisation, LDN UTD, and technology pioneer Samsung KX to promote health and wellbeing across the UK, via grassroots gaming.

LDN UTD will be hosting a FIFA 22 and F1 community stream on 13th November 2021 at the 20,000-square-foot brand showcase Samsung KX in London.

At the event gamers will have access to LDN UTD talent, health and wellbeing advice, as well as meeting special guests. For those unable to attend, the event will be broadcast live on LDN UTD’s Twitch page, with viewers able to interactively participate and win prizes.
