Sam Kerr will be the first female player to feature on the global cover of EA Sports’ FIFA videogame, when FIFA 23 launches later this year.
The Australia and Chelsea FC striker will feature alongside Paris Saint-Germain forward and World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe.
Female footballers have featured on the covers of FIFA games in previous editions, however, only on a regional basis.
“It’s an honour and a dream come true to be on the cover of FIFA 23,” said Kerr. “It’s been incredible to work with Kylian and the whole EA SPORTS team, and I can’t wait for fans to get their hands on a copy of the game.”

Footballco has appointed Morgan Brennan to the role of Head of Indivisa, the women’s football media brand which launched in March this year.
Regarding her appointment, Brennan said, “Women’s football is at one of the most important times for its development, especially at the elite level, with this year’s Women’s Euro proving to be a huge success and next year’s Women’s World Cup being able to carry that momentum forward.
“At the same time, this surge in popularity is having a hugely positive impact on global growth of grassroots football which plays an important role in fostering fandom and acting as a home to the women’s football community.
“Working across Indivisa has allowed me to work with a number of talented female and non-binary creators who can tell these stories in ways and through a lens rarely used in traditional football media.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue this growth and the support shown by the community and the brands we’ve been working with.”
