The Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) has announced a new three-year deal with BBC ALBA and BBC Scotland that includes broadcast rights to live matches and highlights of the league.
The new agreement with both stations, which runs until the end of the 2024/25 season, is the biggest with the channels since they began covering the women’s game in Scotland.
Fiona McIntyre, Managing Director of the SWPL, said, “We’re really pleased to have agreed this new, record deal, which is great news for the League and supporters across the country. The ongoing partnership with both BBC ALBA and BBC Scotland will be vital in growing the game in this country in the coming years, and their long-term support of the women’s game is truly appreciated.
“This significant new agreement represents the growth and ambition we have for the League. It was a really exciting opening weekend of the SWPL season, and we know that viewers will be in for a treat for the rest of the season.”
Global fitness brand Spartan has announced Built for Athletes as its official backpack partner in the UK for the remainder of the 2022 season and into 2023.
Under terms of the agreement, the gym wear brand will showcase its range of products at Spartan events in the UK, including the Spartan European Championships, which takes place on 8th and 9th October 2022.

English Football League (EFL) Championship football club Wigan Athletic Football Club has appointed Dr Tom Markham as its new Chief Operating Officer.
Markham has moved from being a part-time Non-Executive Director to a full-time Executive Director, whilst remaining on the Board of the Latics.
Dr Tom Markham commented, “It has been a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding experience to work with excellent people in restoring Wigan Athletic’s pride since the club came out of administration in March 2021. Following last season’s League One title success, I am delighted to have joined the club full-time as we look to build strategically for the 2022/23 season back in the Championship.”
