British Wheelchair Basketball – the national governing body for wheelchair basketball in the UK – has announced the appointment of Justine Baynes as its new CEO.

Baynes will assume her role at the helm of the organisation on Monday 5th December 2022.

Baynes has held a number of senior leadership positions prior to joining British Wheelchair Basketball, most recently as a Managing Director of a sporting retail business.

Current interim CEO, Jo Coates, will handover the NGB during December. Baynes will be in post in time to join the NGB for its annual AGM on Wednesday 7th December.

Commenting on the appointment British Wheelchair Basketball Chair, Jules Parke-Robinson, commented, “Justine has a wealth of experience across the charity, sport and retail sector and will bring a really fresh perspective to BWB.

“I know she is excited to get started and grateful that Jo will be on hand to support and provide a thorough handover. I know that as a sport we will welcome Justine and help her settle into the role quickly.” 


Scottish football club Celtic FC has announced that its former Chief Executive Peter Lawwell is returning as Non-Executive Chair, just 18 months after leaving the club.

He will replace Ian Bankier on 1st January 2023, having previously served for almost 18 years, prior to his retirement in the summer of 2021.

During his tenure as Chief Executive, the club won 29 trophies, including 13 league titles.

On the appointment, Lawwell commented, “As a lifelong Celtic supporter it is a great privilege to be asked to take up the position of chairman, having already been part of our great club for nearly 18 years.

“I will be offering my support and guidance to the board and executive management team to ensure that we continue to drive the club forward and protect and promote the interests of our supporters.”


UK Rugby league club Castleford Tigers has announced the extension of its partnership with Yorkshire -based SFS, dry-lining, plastering and suspended ceiling company Brebur.

Brebur, which is also a sponsor of Tigers player Paul McShane, has exented the deal until 2024.

Speaking about Brebur’s partnership extension, McShane said, “It’s fantastic that Brebur will keep sponsoring the club, it means the world to all of us, not just the players – everyone.
