Athletics legend Brendan Foster was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Sport Industry Awards 2010 on 13th May in London in front of an appreciative audience of industry executives and sport and entertainment celebrities.

Foster, former Olympic record holder and the founder of the Great North Run, received his prestigious Award from running legend and multi-Olympic gold medallist Haile Gebrselassie and Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, the greatest Paralympian of all time.

Foster was rewarded for a career that not only encompassed record-breaking feats on the track but also has taken in a substantial number of commercial achievements, not least through his company Nova International which runs a number of highly successful mass participation events across the UK.

Previous winners of the Lifetime Achievement Award have included Ron Dennis, chairman of McLaren Automotive in 2009; Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton (2008); Vic Wakeling, managing director, Sky Sports (2007); and Bernie Ecclestone, president, Formula One Management (2006).
