Sii 2007: Blatter Refutes Corruption Charges

FIFA president Sepp Blatter used the Sport Industry Interview 2007 to once and
for all dismiss any ongoing image problems of both himself and FIFA in the wake
of allegations of financial discrepancies.

Commenting that any negative image was purely media speculation, Blatter
stated: ‘We will show in our financial report published later this month that
all our finances are in order. There are no irregularities. Allegations against
myself and FIFA will never be proved, either in books or articles or in court,
because they simply aren’t true.’

Blatter stated that the next financial report, which will reveal the
governing body’s revenues for the last four year period, will show that FIFA has
turned itself around following the difficulties it endured during the late 90’s
and the collapse of its commercial agency suppliers ISL and Kirch.

The 2007 Sport Industry Interview, in association with Wiggin LLP, took place
at the Bloomberg Studios in Central London.

In front of a select, invite-only audience of 250 leading practitioners from
the UK sport industry including the likes of FA chief executive Brian Barwick
and FA Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards, the FIFA president was
interviewed on a variety of football topics.
