After the success of Silverstone’s return to the MotoGP calendar last year, the circuit has announced it has secured the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, the Red Bull Matadors, and trials rider Dougie Lampkin – as part of it’s race weekend entertainment package.
The MotoGP festival at this year’s AirAsia British Grand Prix will run from 10th-12th June, with the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup the new support race, before the finale, the British MotoGP Grand Prix.
Silverstone will host rounds five and six of the Red Bull Rookies Cup, a popular grass roots racing series, which leaves many riders graduating to MotoGP.
The Red Bull Matadors, who will perform aerobatic stunts in their high-speed planes throughout the festival, include aerobatic gold medalists Paul Bonhomme and Steve Jones – while stunt rider Dougie Lampkin MBE is also back by popular demand.
Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, commented, “We promised MotoGP fans a better experience at Silverstone, and in 2010 we delivered just that. The feedback from the fans, and everyone who came to Silverstone last year was fantastic. But we want to deliver even more this year’.
Advance tickets start from £16 for the 2011 AirAsia British Grand Prix.
