Sinopec, the largest oil refiner in China, has agreed a worldwide sponsorship deal with the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) covering all the governing body’s major events.

Sinopec, also known as the China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation, has become an official partner of the IAAF and its World Athletics Series through 2015 in a deal brokered by the IAAF’s worldwide marketing partner, Dentsu.

Under the terms of the contract, Sinopec will join Samsung and Adidas in providing additional financial support to the IAAF for the body’s Continental Programme.

The company was recently the title sponsor of the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships and an official partner of the VTB Bank Continental Cup. The IAAF now has seven confirmed official partners for the 2011 World Championships, which will take place from 27th August to 4th September in Daegu, South Korea.

The IAAF’s six other official worldwide partners are Seiko, TDK, Toyota, VTB, Adidas and Samsung.
