Science in Sport (SiS) has announced new developments in its sponsorship portfolio, after confirming partnerships with Team GB member and Olympic and World Champion cyclist Rebecca Romero MBE and the Rabobank pro cycling team.

Romero won a silver medal in rowing at the Athens Olympics, followed by gold in cycling at Beijing in 2008, making her the first woman in British Athletics’ history to win medals in two separate Olympic events, and has signed up as the triathlon brand ambassador for the company.

Romero is now training for her first ironman competition.

Stephen Moon, managing director, SiS said: ‘Rebecca is an incredibly dedicated and talented athlete. Her passion and motivation for sport is inspiring and we felt that her insight into the world of sports nutrition would both inform and motivate the thousands of amateur athletes in the UK. She has used SiS products for several years and her unique achievements at the last Olympic Games show just what a heroic role model she is.’

SiS has also signed an exclusive partnership with the Rabobank pro cycling team, which will see SiS supply the sports nutrition requirements to Rabobank’s Men’s Pro Team, Men’s Junior Team, Women’s Pro Team and off-road teams throughout 2012 as they compete at events such as the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta Espana.

Stephen added: ‘The business is making enormous progress in endurance sport. Our product portfolio is particularly strong in this area and this agreement follows the recent signing of two-year deals agreed with Rapha Condor Sharp & Endura Racing teams. In addition, with new product developments on the horizon using innovative ingredient technology, we are looking forward to an exciting period in the sport where we can demonstrate even more strongly our credibility as the leaders in sports nutrition.’
