Sky TV will broadcast the world’s first live 3D sports event when it shows the Premier League game between Manchester United and Arsenal on Sunday.

Nine pubs in London, Edinburgh, Dublin and Manchester will show the game exclusively in extra dimension.

The match at the Emirates Stadium will be the public’s first ever chance to see live 3D football ahead of Sky’s dedicated 3D channel which launches in April.

Sky will transmit two live feeds of the game with one going to its Sky Sports channel and another transmitted to the new 3D channel.

To produce the event there will be two camera crews, one using High Definition cameras and the others using the new 3D cameras. There will also be two separate commentary teams and two production teams to produce the simultaneous broadcasts.

Sky is also planning to show movies and concerts in 3D when they officially launch the new channel.
