According to The Times, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is closing in on a multi-year extension to its broadcast agreement with Sky Sports.
Once agreed, the new deal will mean that the majority of international and domestic cricket organised by the national governing body, including both England’s men’s and women’s Test fixtures, will remain on the pay-TV broadcaster until 2034, although some matches will continue to be shared with the BBC.
Each year the BBC currently broadcasts four international Twenty20 matches and ten matches from The Hundred. The second season of the new short-format competition begins Wednesday 3rd August.
The new ten-year deal is expected to be of equivalent value to the previous 2017 agreement between the network and the national governing body, worth a reported £220 million annually.
