Pay-TV broadcaster Sky has laid out its plans to introduce 3D to its sports coverage saying that fans will be able to watch football in the technological format before the end of 2010.

The broadcaster stated that people will be able to watch matches in pubs and in their own living rooms within the next 12 months, but they will have to buy a 3D TV and wear 3D glasses.

The service will work using a Sky HD set-top box and will be shown on a new dedicated 3D channel set-up by Sky.

O2 have already announced plans to show England’s Six Nations home rugby games in 3D at 40 cinemas across the country.

The BBC has also said that it plans to include 3D in its coverage of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
