The Sport Industry Group is delighted to confirm that Barney Francis, Managing Director of Sky Sports and one of the biggest names in sports broadcasting, will be the fourth and final speaker to address the Nolan Partners Sport Industry Breakfast Club 2011.
On Wednesday, 2nd November in central London, Francis will be interviewed on stage in front of the Breakfast Club members; a gathering of more than 150 leading executives from the UK sport industry.
As one of the most experienced operators in televised sport in a career stretching back nearly two decades, Francis succeeded Vic Wakeling at the helm of Sky Sports in July 2009.
Under his direction, Sky Sports has now moved all of its channels to HD, pioneered 3D broadcasts and extended its mobile and online offering. It has also renewed contracts for the UEFA Champions League, Football League, US PGA Championship and Tour golf, ATP Tennis, and Rugby League and secured new rights for the Masters and F1.
Prior to Francis’ appearance, the Nolan Partners Sport Industry Breakfast Club members will gather in just under a month’s time to hear the thoughts of Ivan Gazidis, Chief Executive of Arsenal F.C., on his plans for the Premier League club and the future of football governance.
Gazidis’ appearance at the Breakfast Club on 20th September will be the third event of the year following on from exclusive interviews with Adam Silver, Deputy Commissioner of the NBA, and Paul Vaughan, Chief Executive of England Rugby 2015, held earlier in the year.

Now in its second year, the Sport Industry Breakfast Club has been established to create four uniquely positioned events annually that will see prominent individuals from the global sporting hierarchy interviewed on relevant and topical subjects in front of industry executives from across the entire spectrum of UK sport.
For 2010, Andy Anson, CEO of England’s bid to host the 2018 World Cup; Roger Draper, Chief Executive of the Lawn Tennis Association; McDonald’s UK CEO Steve Easterbrook; and Tim Leiweke, President and CEO of AEG Worldwide, formed the speaker line-up that addressed the Breakfast Club members.
