Sky Sports has secured the rights of the Ping An Chinese Football Association Super League (CSL) for the next three seasons.
The first match to be shown on the channel will be on Saturday 30th July when the Shanghai Shenhua face Jiangsu Suning.
The announcement follows a number of high-profile signings making big-money moves to the league, including Ramires, Obafemi Martins, Gervinho, Demba Ba, Jackson Martinez and recent signing from Southampton Graziano Pelle.
Sky Sports’ new rights deal further showcases the recent growing investment in Chinese football, discussed in this recent feature by sports marketing and PR consultant Joe Favorito.
The acquisition adds to Sky Sports’ roster of football, which already includes the Premier League, English Football League, FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifiers and LaLiga, amongst others.
“This is more great news for football fans as we get set for our biggest ever season on Sky Sports,” said Sky Sports head of football Gary Hughes.
“The Ping An Chinese Super League is attracting players from Europe and is creating a really exciting competition that will only add to an incredible line-up of live football on Sky Sports.”
