Sky Sports has confirmed it will broadcast the UK’s first ever cricket
match in 3D when England take on Bangladesh in the first NatWest One
Day International.

On the 8th July, viewers in UK and Ireland will be given the opportunity to see cricket in 3D for the first time and coverage is being broadcast live on Sky’s 3D channel to over 1,000 venues.

Cricket is to be given the 3D treatment by Sky Sports, following football and rugby union, after the launch of Sky 3D, Europe’s first dedicated 3D TV channel in April.

Later in the year, Sky 3D plans to launch to people’s living rooms, however, the service will only be available to those with a special 3D TV.

Sky started testing 3D technology two years ago and broadcast the world’s first live sports 3D TV broadcast – Arsenal v Manchester United earlier this year as well as the Guinness Premiership Final in May.
