Sky Sports will be rebranding its Sky Sport News channel from 12th August, with Sky Sports HQ created to offer more breaking news across a TV, digital and mobile services to it consumers.
Launched in conjunction with the new Premier League football season, the channel will see a change of emphasis on how stories are delivered, as well as a new studio, updated digital service for mobile and table devices, and an integrated social media environment.
Sky Sports managing director Barney Francis, said: ‘It’s just the latest innovation from a channel that’s pioneered sports news broadcasting for over 15 years.’
Sky Sports News HQ executive editor Andy Cairns, added: ‘Sky Sports News has always been authoritative, innovative, fun and relevant. These changes reflect how we’re staying ahead of the curve and anticipating the needs of our viewers.’
‘Two million viewers a day come to Sky Sports News, plus many more on digital and social media, and this evolution shows our commitment to delivering them an even better service.’
Ahead of the launch, Sky Sports News’ 2.9m Twitter followers and 4.7m Facebook fans were offered the first previews of the new set-up.
