Sky Sports has announced its ‘best ever day’ of viewing figures, which took place on Sunday 4th October.
The broadcaster says it averaged 933,000 viewers throughout the day across the network which accounted for 11.7% of all TV viewing. It has also revealed that over 14 million people watched Sky Sports at some point throughout the day, with each viewer on average watching more than 95 minutes of programming throughout the day.
The ratings peak came at 4:55pm, when 3.3m viewers tuned in to Sky Sports, a 25% share of total TV viewing at the time.
The figures came on a bumper day of sport for the broadcaster, which screened no fewer than four Premier League matches – including big defeats for champions Liverpool and Manchester United – as well as a Scottish Premiership fixture featuring Celtic.
Sky Sports also showed cricket’s Vitality Blast Finals Day and a match from the IPL, as well as dramatic finishes in events across the PGA Tour, the European Tour and the LPGA Tour golf.
“These viewing numbers show the importance of sport to our viewers,” said Rob Webster, Managing Director, Sky Sports.
“At a time when the UK is spending more time at home, I’m delighted that our teams are able to showcase a choice of world-class sporting content from around the world.”
