Sky Sports Retain Copa Del Rey Rights
Sky Sports have retained the UK broadcast rights to the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup for the next four seasons.
The new deal – negotiated with B4 Capital, the agency hired to sell Spanish domestic rights internationally – will run until 2018.
Emanuele Villari, B4 Capital’s head of sales and acquisition for Europe, said: “We are pleased to announce a deal with Sky for these prestigious events in the Spanish football calendar.
“These matches are of great importance reflected by last season’s huge UK viewing figures for the Copa del Rey final between Real Madrid and Barcelona and the Super Cup finals between Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid.”
Sky Sports is the current UK broadcaster of all Spanish domestic football, although it is yet to secure the rights to La Liga beyond the end of this season.
