Sport digital specialist Snack Media has teamed up with the founders of the Stream Time app to launch a new content discovery platform for football fans worldwide.

StreamFOOTBALL.tv is described by the partnership as a “first to market product”, which proposes relevant live streams to fans based on their interests and viewing preferences.

The platform will aggregate live football content available across all social platforms, linear and OTT providers.

It is set to feature content from football clubs, players and major publishers including the BBC, Sky Sports, Eleven Sports & BT Sport – alongside programming from the growing universe of fan content creators.

Snack Media claims the service will act as a marketing tool for publishers, helping them to “structure their content, grow audiences, and drive new revenues.”

Niall Coen, founder and CEO of Snack Media, explained: Over the last 18 months the market has become more cluttered, fans are missing great content they would love to see and broadcasters aren’t finding the new audiences they so badly desire. StreamFOOTBALL solves this by placing the live football remote control back into the fans’ hands.”

Stream Time CEO Trevor Evans added: “It is an exciting time as traditional media rights are being disrupted and viewing habits are moving online as the quality of live streaming improves. Upon meeting Niall and learning about Snack Media’s influence & experience, it was an easy decision to work with them on StreamFOOTBALL”

The move follows rapid growth in online consumption of football content. The BBC reported receiving 66.8m match requests during the 2018 World Cup – more than double the number in the previous tournament.
